I bought this jacket for $7.99 from Value Village. It was boring and shapeless, but I liked the fabric so I thought it would be ideal for a refashion project.
The first thing I did was replace the buttons. I had a few of the buttons I wanted to use, but not enough, so I had to re-order them online. The buttons cost $1.00 each.
Next, I removed and redesigned the sleeves. I cut off about nine inches of the original sleeve and replaced it with a black, stretchy, embroidered fabric I had in my stash.
I removed the shoulder pads (this isn't the 1980's!) and added some trim to the shoulders.
Lastly, I adjusted the fit and re-assembled the jacket.
Adding the original price of the jacket from the thrift store and the buttons, this jacket refashion cost me $12.99.
