I had the idea to make my own version of this Fashionista Barbie doll and was able to find plaid fabric that I felt was pretty close to the shirt-dress that Barbie is wearing.
I hand-sewed various different patches, including; a Hello Kitty patch, Kirby, a Super Mario one-up mushroom and a Zelda patch.

I came up for the idea of a Super Metroid inspired fashion collection when I was in second year at college. At the end of the first semester I came down with pneumonia and had to stay home for a few weeks. While I recovered, pretty much all I did was play Super Metroid on my old Super Nintendo, which I dug out of storage.
Since getting a Nintendo Switch this year for my birthday, I’ve been able to play Super Metroid again by downloading it from the online archive.

When I was growing up I always had to be Luigi since the only Nintendo in our home belonged to my brother, and he always wanted to be Mario/Player 1. And when I went to my best friend’s house, she would also claim Mario and the number one position since the Nintendo (and subsequently Super Nintendo) belonged to her.
Needless to say, I have a special affinity for Luigi and the Player 2 position.
