When I was growing up I always had to be Luigi since the only Nintendo in our home belonged to my brother, and he always wanted to be Mario/Player 1. And when I went to my best friend’s house, she would also claim Mario and the number one position since the Nintendo (and subsequently Super Nintendo) belonged to her.
Needless to say, I have a special affinity for Luigi and the Player 2 position.
