New Look 6602 View C: Easy Tunic in Denim Floral

I just finished sewing New Look 6602, View C - a tunic with side slits and buttons on one shoulder.  I was really excited to make this pattern because I love any look where buttons are a prominent feature.

The tunic is mid-thigh in length and would be great paired with leggings or shorts.

It was a really simple and fun pattern to work with and I was able to finish it in one afternoon.  I made it out of a printed cotton fabric, and I would definitely love to make it again in the summer out of a beautiful linen.

Check out my sewing selfie, wearing New Look 6602.

Simplicity 2286 View C: Printed Cotton Skirt

Pattern Review:

Simplicity 2286 is a skirt that sits at the natural waist and has several different variations.  I chose to make View C, but instead of the lace trim the pattern calls for, I used an eyelet trim that I hand dyed grey with Rit Fabric Dye in Graphite.

The elastic waistband makes the skirt super comfortable and perfect for tucking in shirts (I like to wear my skirt with a plain black or plain white t-shirt).  There are a good amount of gathers and there is a decent amount of fullness.

In terms of fabrication, I went with a lightweight printed cotton.

I found that it was difficult to differentiate the front of the skirt from the back of the skirt as I began to sew, so I marked the back of the skirt with a safety pin until it was completed, at which point I sewed a label onto the inner waistband, at the back.
